Rafting on the Merced River with Zephyr Whitewater

Quarter Mile Rapid

Photo © Picture This Photography

The Merced River is beautiful and exciting, and is only minutes from Yosemite Valley. Rafting season starts in April, and normally goes into late July and August depending on previous winter snowpack. Spring and Summer Normally class 3-4. But when summer comes around, the lower Merced section from Briceburg to Railroad Flat is a great family whitewater 1/2 day trip and is rated class 2-3. Adventurous first times are fine.
