The Angels Camp World Mercantile is unique in the fact that they are an all volunteer staff sponsored by Buttercup Farms, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to "helping people to help themselves." The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat with excellent homemade food, great ice cream, coffee beverages and free wireless internet in the historic Mercantile building on Main Street. The store offers a variety of gifts from around the world and local businesses.

The Mercantile provides activities for the community and visitors including Karaoke on Friday nights, Open Mic on Saturdays, Drum Circle on Sundays, and dance lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays. They also offer birthday parties and cater for special events.
