Bald Mountain sits at an elevation of 9,104 feet and is located at the beginning of the Glass Mountain Range. In winter it looks like a scoop of white ice cream; no trees. The viewpoint is 360 degrees providing views from Crowley Lake to Mono Lake.
The log cabin warming hut is utilized year round. A guestbook and dedication is in the warming hut. The log cabin is rumored to have been built by two sons of a forest ranger. At one time the fire lookout and warming hut was used by an organization to save animals. The organization was called Project Wildlife. DJ's Snowmobile Adventures, Inc. had the log cabin renovated and dedicated as a public warming hut in 1988.
