Berkeley Camp Echo Lake

Berkeley Camp Echo Lake

The City of Berkeley has been operating Berkeley Echo Lake Camp since 1922. Echo Lake Camp sits atop a 7400 ft. ridge that overlooks the entire Lake Tahoe Basin. Campers sleep in rustic wooden tent cabins, and enjoy three hot meals a day in the Dining Hall. Campers can participate in swimming, hiking, archery, canoeing, sports, arts & crafts, games, campfires and other organized activities. Echo Lake, the Pacific Crest Trail, the Tahoe Rim Trail and Desolation Wilderness are all less than a half mile away from camp and it’s a 15-minute drive into South Lake Tahoe, which makes it a perfect location for a summer getaway for all ages.

Reservations are required.

Youth Camp July - August (8-13 year olds) Youth have an exciting schedule of activities during these one-week sessions (Monday – Friday). Some of these activities include fishing, polar bear swims, night hikes, all camp games, carnivals, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts and the ever popular youth dance. Activities are always supervised by counselors. Round trip transportation from Berkeley is provided.

Counselors-in-Training (CITs) July - August (14-15 year olds) CITs work shifts in each department, gain training and valuable job skills, have fun with friends and experience camp from behind-the-scenes. This is a great program for teenagers who might be interested in working at Echo Lake Camp someday.

Week of 4th of July and most weekends in July & August Individuals, couples or families can enjoy great meals, archery, swimming, the Jacuzzi, hiking in the high country, campfires, and other activities.
