Located on Ski Run Boulevard in the center of South Lake Tahoe, the Blue Angel Café is situated along the original ski hill of Heavenly dating back to 1947. Decorated with ski memorabilia of days gone by, the Blue Angel Cafe's interior reminds us of the rich ski history of the area and its namesakes - The Blue Angels, the official Ski Race Team of Heavenly Ski Resort during the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
The owner, Rosie Cowen, whose English & European heritage heavily influenced the menu with innovative food from around the world, creates an international vibe with her international staff (British, South African, German and Australian ex-pats) that keeps customers coming back time and time again. His passion for good food at affordable prices is clearly evident in the seasonal menus which feature salads from Tuscany, curries from Mumbai, fish tacos from Mexico, and Falafel sandwiches from the markets of Istanbul. Vegans and Vegetarians find plenty of menu options on all three of the menus served daily.
Located on the main thoroughfare to Heavenly Ski Resort's California Base Lodge and just a few minutes from the beach. The Lunch Menu features a plethora of sandwiches and salads to please any palate. Fish Tacos, Certified Angus Beef burgers, Buffalo Mozzarella sandwiches and Falafel sandwiches are quite popular along with the Seared Ahi Tuna salad with Ruby Red Grapefruit Chunks and marinated Cucumber, a Skirt Steak Salad with Blue Cheese Crumbles and Caramelized Shallots, and, of course, the café's seasonal House Salads.
The Dinner Menu features items like a Three Chees Ravioli topped with Anouille Sausage, Crawfish & a lobster vin blanc, traditional Beef Bourguignone, and a Coq au Vin (Chicked braise in Red Wine, Mushroom & alder smoked Bacon). We offer Pasta, Fish & Curries of the day.
During the ski season, the cafe is a regular hot spot for skiers and boarders discussing their day on the slopes over mulled wine and appetizers, sitting on the couches before the fireplace, warming their snow-weary bones. One tends to meet visitors from all over the world as well as local ski instructors from any number of the area's ski resorts, all of whom are attracted to the warmth and charm of this unique Lake Tahoe institution.
During the summer, the landscaped garden is a highlight for not only visiting families, but have some of the most sought after tables for lunch and dinner by locals. Hidden around the side of the garden is a fuss ball table to keep the kids entertained. Keep an eye open in the summer for monthly wine tasting events in the garden. Or come visit us on Wednesdays for our $7.99 Pasta night or Happy Hour Daily from 3-7pm

Rosie a nearly 10 year local was born and raised in England where she learned the height of service in London’s West and bistros, and, later ski resorts in the Austrian and Swiss Alps. She also studied hospitality in the UK. (University details and course name available upon request.)
Jeff is a 16-year local who started in Tahoe working on the Lake as a sportfishing captain. Jeff now works full time for the environmental planning agency for Lake Tahoe known colloquially as TRPA. Mostly, Jeff attends the bathrooms and tries to keep the parking lot clean.
Rosie's staff are like family as they work together to make the Cafe a unique and one-of-a-kind place for locals and tourists to come and enjoy either breakfast, lunch or dinner or just to enjoy the company of others around them with a cup of coffee, glass of wine or a local brew.
The property is only 7 years old and is totally ADA accessible.
During the summer the garden becomes a gathering place for diners with their dogs.
