Chaos Glassworks is a hot shop and art gallery housed in an 1850s era stone building that originally housed a brewery and granary. This historic building is one of the best preserved in the Sutter Creek area. It has 2 foot thick walls; the left earlier section is built of fieldstone, and the right section of local quarried greenstone. Chaos Glassworks retains the original steel doors and window shutters which literally marks the history of the area. Look for the two very large caliber bullet holes on one of the doors.

Artists David and Heather Hopman have been operating Chaos Glassworks since 2000, producing one of a kind pieces with an emphasis on bold colors and unusual shapes. Inspiration is taken from nature, both in form and color patterns, with a special love of underwater life.

Live glassblowing is done on Saturday and Sunday for the public to watch. Chaos Glassworks produces vases, bowls, plates, pumpkins, lighting, lampworked beads, paperweights, sculpture, and jewelry, as well as ceramic sculpture. Occasionally other 2 dimensional artists are featured in the upstairs gallery.

Seasons Open: Year Round

Hours Open: Wed-Fri 11 to 5, Sat 10-7, Sun 10-6, other times by appointment.

Kirk and Karrie Lindsay wrote on September 14, 2010: Not only is the original glass work completely engaging, but watching the process is fantastic! What a privilege to have this opportunity!
