Dry Creek Preserve

Dry Creek Preserve is a 152-acre former gravel quarry located just northwest of Lemon Cove. This special nature preserve, now fully restored, is the first example of an ecologically-based aggregate mine reclamation in Tulare County.  It is also home to the Sequoia Riverlands Trust native plant nursery and a demonstration garden that shows the public how to beautifully landscape with native plants to reduce water and electricity bills.

Recreational Opportunities

Dry Creek Preserve boasts one of the most stunning views of spring wildflowers in the region. It is also beautiful to watch the sycamores change through the four seasons. Go to the preserve to hike, observe nature and learn with your friends and family, or go to sit quietly and listen to the many bird species that call this preserve their home. The creek is usually flowing from October through May, so crossing it may not be possible until the warmer months. Visit the preserve often to enjoy a completely new experience each time. The preserve includes the following amenities: picnic area, trails, observation deck, bathrooms, and  water fountain.

Directions:

The preserve is located outside of Lemon Cove. From Visalia, travel east on Highway 198. Take Highway 216 toward Woodlake. Follow west one-half mile and turn north on Dry Creek Road.  The preserve is located two miles up the road on your right.

Seasons Accessible

Open year-round as of May 2011.

Fees: Free

 ADA Accessibility Notes

The trail is made of decomposed granite and is wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms and water fountain are also wheelchair accessible.
