Enchanted April Bed & Breakfast Inn

A magical place set against the backdrop of California History just 8 miles from Coloma, the site where gold was first discovered. This American farmhouse is reminiscent of historic farmhouses that once graced the area. Enchanted April Farm is a working farm with horses, an olive grove, lavender and a small vineyard.
Enchanted April Bed & Breakfast Inn lies along an old stage route used by settlers and miners to ferry goods back and forth from Sacramento to the mining camps. A few remnants of past glory can be seen in the ruins of historic buildings nearby. A 350 year old heritage oak graces the center of the property...and what stories it could tell!
Although the Inn itself is relatively new, the aura of history permeates the area. From the hillside on which it sits, one can ponder... almost see and hear...the goings on of a magnificent bygone era known as the California Gold Rush. Marshall Gold Discovery State Park and the famed Bayley House, a mansion built in 1862 are just a few minutes drive. Also close by is one of the last working cattle ranches in the area, the Penobscot Ranch, which can be toured by arrangement.
Enchanted April Inn is an "enchanting oasis" with four upstairs bedrooms that sleep 2 persons each. There are lovely gardens that surround the Inn where guests can relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The Inn also has a charming dining room and a comfortable gathering room with fireplace & cable TV. Internet access is also available. Additionally there is a conference room perfect for retreats, workshops, arts & crafts, scrap-booking, etc.
The Inn, although relatively new, has a wonderful feeling of old world charm. It is reminiscent of the farmhouses that once dotted the area in a bygone era.

"Come restore your spirit and revive your soul" is the motto of Enchanted April Inn. The proprietress Elke Schlosser was inspired to create the B & B by a movie called "Enchanted April"...a story of 4 women who find peace, purpose and friendship at a villa on the Italian seaside. Elke had long dreamed about a place where she could exercise her twin passions for hospitality and horses, and she found it in this Gold Country oasis.
We try to be very environmentally sensitive at Enchanted April Inn. Our linens and towels are sun-dried in the fresh air (weather permitting). We recycle and use only earth friendly cleaning products. All our foods are fresh and some vegetables are home grown. Table scraps are fed to neighboring chickens who provide us with healthy free range eggs.
We encourage guests to bring their horses to ride the hundreds of miles of magnificant trails.
