The building was built in 1860 by Francisco Bruschi, and initially used as the family's first home and their bakery. The original walls of schist and mud still survive. Still owned by one of the initial pioneer families, today the store features an unusual assortment of items from authentic Indian collectibles, to western hats, fancy model horses, custom gold jewelry and mining supplies. Lining the walls and shelves are some fascinating photos and other historic tidbits. Proprietor, Bob Jobe also has a number of original art works on display. The garden adjacent to the building features an authentic Mi Wuk teepee and is just across from an authentic 3-stamp mill taken from a local mine.

It's shops like these that makes Historic Coulterville so unique. Located at the current western termination of the new John Muir Highway, a segment of Hwy 132 extending from Coulterville to close to the entrance of Yosemite National Park. If you acquire a gold pan, Bob can direct you to a public area of Maxwell Creek, well known for the ample gold nuggets panned from its shores.
