Frog Meadow Guard Station Cabin-Giant Sequoia National Monument

Frog Meadow Guard Station Cabin-Giant Sequoia National Monument

Frog Meadow Guard Station Cabin offers visitors a cabin-camping experience with picturesque views. The cabin is situated on the edge of a beautiful meadow which is sometimes visited by grazing deer in the early morning and evening hours.  The cabin is just two hours from Bakersfield or Porterville.

The cabin was constructed between 1933 and 1935, and was used to house Forest Service personnel.  In the early 1980s the Forest Service no longer had use for the cabin and it was closed, until recently.  The cabin has all the comforts of home, with the exception of electricity.  Amenities included at the cabin are a fully equipped kitchen with propane appliances, running water, and a bathroom that features a flush toilet and tub-shower. Visitors are advised to bring flashlights, bedding, food, toiletries, and bath towels.

The cabin is located at approximately 7,700 feet, providing clear skies and the unique opportunity for recreational visitors to find true peace and solitude. With plenty of room to roam you can enjoy nearby activities including biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and stargazing. Be sure to bring a telescope!  Nearby points of interest include the Tobias Peak Fire Lookout.  Because the cabin is located at the 7,700 foot elevation, visitors are advised to be prepared for all types of weather.
