Green Creek Trail, in the Toiyabe National Forest, is a relatively short and beautiful hike to Green Lake and further on to East Lake. Both lakes are large and surrounded by dramatic peaks. The moderate hike to East Lake is about 8 miles round trip and gains about 1400 feet in elevation.
From Bridgeport, drive south for about 8 miles and take the Green Creek Rd. exit. Follow the dirt road and signs to the Green Creek Trail-head.
Vertical Gain or Loss: 1400
Trail Distance: 8 miles, round trip

Dan Nordberg wrote on August 03, 2012: July/August, 2012: this hike is beautiful, but can be brutal for those of us over 60 and not in good shape, especially in the sun exposed areas where the sun beats you down. Got to East Lake, set camp and recuperated from the almost constant uphill trek. Few bugs and great views make the experience worthwhile. Get in shape before trying this or you will spend your entire time recuperating!
