East meets west.  New York meets Yosemite, in this extraordinary, popular, three day workshop at Hotel Charlotte in Groveland.  Bill Manville, former Village Voice columnist, editor for Helen Gurley Brown’s Cosmo, author of six books, and columnist for the New York Daily News, returns to Groveland annually, to teach a three day workshop, entitled Writing To Get Published.  Manville, currently a teacher at Temple University, in Philadelphia, receives acclaim for his Writing To Get Published classes.

The historic Hotel Charlotte’s intimate country setting provides the perfect opportunity for participants to exchange ideas with Manville and other participants, while enjoying a new seminar topic and writing assignment each day.  Surrounded by the Gold Rush and Hetch Hetchy backdrop of the town of Groveland, participants find inspiration for writing in the natural and cultural history of the area.  Manville returns for his third year, because he loves everything about Hotel Charlotte and Groveland -- the intimate setting where locals and writers connect, the stunning Yosemite scenery and local gold era history, and the warmth and friendliness of Hotel Charlotte owners, Lynn and Victor, with their dog, Goose, who is the elected Honorary Mayor of Groveland.

The welcome dinner and closing lunch with Bill Manville feature award winning dishes with lamb shank, chicken Argentine, or Sicilian pasta, among others, created by Hotel Charlotte’s locally acclaimed Chef Victor, plus a wine list highlighting Sierra foothill wines.

Benefit from Bill Manville’s experience as a successful author and editor, taste the local flavors, enjoy the local characters, and become inspired through the beauty and culture of the area, with this intimate, three day seminar, in the historic Hotel Charlotte.  Come early, or stay after, to visit Yosemite, by adding a room at Hotel Charlotte’s Stay-N-Play rates of $89 to $199.
