Hume Lake Campground

The USFS campground is part of the Hume Lake Ranger District, Sequoia National Forest.  It is located approximately 80 miles northeast of Fresno, adjacent to Kings Canyon National Park. Hume Lake is a short walk from the campground, offering swimming, trout fishing, boating and hiking.  Hume Lake is an artificial lake is located adjacent to the unincorporated community of Hume. It is on Tenmile Creek, which flows into the Kings River.

The 87-acre lake lies behind the world's first concrete reinforced multiple arch dam, Hume Lake Dam, designed by John S. Eastwood and constructed in 1908 by the Hume-Bennett Lumber Company. During lumber operations, the lake stored logs for an adjacent mill and supplied water for a flume used to transport the cut lumber to Sanger, California.

All sites have picnic tables,fire rings, and bear proof food lockers. All roads are paved. Restrooms have flush toilets and sinks. Normal season dates are May 15th through October 1st. One mile to gas and store, firewood sold on-site. This facility is operated by Sequoia Recreation.

Driving Directions

From Fresno go east on hwy 180 to Hume Lake Road (Forest Service rd 30 ) turn right and another 3 miles to Hume Lake Campground.
