Indian Peak Vineyards and Winery

Inside winery

Indian Peak Vineyards is a small boutique winery owned and operated by three generations of our family. We initially planted our grapevines in 2000, which yielded our first commercial harvest and production in 2004.  Our vineyard is located in the small town of Manton which is derived from the name Man Town.  During the 1800s Man Town was a thriving logging town with its own lumber mill.  It was also the home of the Manton Frontier Rodeo Days from 1961 to 1975 hosted by Bruce and Elna Barron.  One of the last remaining buildings from that time is the Manton Corners, a small store and adjoining bar.  Manton is also the home of "Bluff Spings"  which is nicknamed "Little Hawaii."  This quaint little town is located in Tehama County at the foothills of Mt. Lassen in the Northern Sierra Cascades.

Indian Peak Vineyards grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes on-site.  Our grapevines thrive in the rich volcanic soils here in Manton.  Other varietals such as Zinfandel, Syrah, and Chardonnay are purchased from other local vineyards in Tehama and Shasta Counties.  All of the wines are crushed, fermented, barrel aged, and bottled on location at the winery.  Winemaker Fred Boots oversees all aspects of the vineyards and wine making.  He especially enjoys his "job" when he gets to pull the wine from the barrels to test it.

Indian Peak Vineyards has won gold, silver, and bronze medals in international competitions and also at the state level for several of our wines.  Indian Peak offers free wine tasting, hosted by the owner/winemaker. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding Sierra Nevada. And, the winery can accommodate groups of up to 30 people for special events.

You are also invited to visit the off-site Indian Peaks Tasting Room in Graeagle, California which is about two hours south of Manton. Graeagle is known for its little red buildings which were moved via train from Sardine Valley in 1916. Originally brought to life by the pioneers of the timber industry, the town of Graeagle was the site of the Graeagle Lumber Company and its “Box Factory” owned by the California Fruit Exchange. Thousands were employed to build boxes for shipping fruit and vegetables in the 1920s, 30's and 40's. Today, Graeagle retains its character and charm, and caters to fishermen, bicyclists, golfers, hikers and sightseers who enjoy the surrounding forests and Plumas Eureka State Park.

Hours Open: 11 AM to 5 PM Daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day

Seasons Open: Year round
