Indian Valley Outpost

Indian Valley Outpost

In the heart of the Indian Valley Recreation Area, the Indian Valley Outpost has been a supply point for generations of vacationers to western Sierra County.  Within a mile of four national forest campgrounds (and a short walk to three) and located near the confluence of Fiddle Creek and the North Yuba River, the Outpost is strategically located to provide supplies, food, and meals to those staying or traveling in the area.  The only business for ten miles in either direction, the Outpost caters to the needs of those enjoying the beauty of this scenic area.

In addition to providing groceries and supplies, the Outpost has a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The business also includes a bar with beer and wine service.

The Outpost also has a rental cabin for overnight accommodations for up to 4 people. This beautiful cabin overlooks Fiddle Creek, with a queen bed and two twin beds.  Rent is $115 per night, with a $10 a night discount if booked more than 4 nights, and an additional $10 discount if booked more than 8 nights.  There is a 14 night maximum booking per year.

The Yuba River widens and slows for much of its journey through Indian Valley, making this a desirable camping, picnicking, and day use area.  In the late spring, the area is host to a number of commercial river rafting outfitters, and the remainder of the summer it is a draw for families wishing to relax in or along this scenic river.  Indian Valley, Rocky Rest, Fiddle Creek, and Carlton Flat Campgrounds all have river frontage.  Rocky Rest Campground is also the southern terminus of the North Yuba Trail that runs from Indian Valley to Downieville, a journey of twelve miles.  Indian Valley is also the starting point for the Brandy City Road, a county road that provides access to the ghost towns of Brandy City, Eureka, Morristown, and Poker Flat.

Hours Open: Friday through Sunday: 8 am to 7:30 pm; Weekdays: 8 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm

Seasons Open: Memorial Day throughLabor Day; otherwise weather permitting.

Price Style for this Establishment: Meals: $6.50 tp $15.00
