Event Dates: August 31, 2012 - September 03, 2012

Description of Event

The Inter-Mountain Fair is an 'old-fashioned country fair' held every labor day weekend in McArthur, California.  A local tradition since 1918, the Fair features arts and crafts, exhibits, carnival, a parade, livestock, and much more.  The hometown and friendly atmosphere makes the Inter-Mountain Fair a perfect outing for families.

The 2012 Inter-Mountain Fair marks the 94th annual event which takes place at the McArthur Fairgrounds, located a short block north of Highway 299.  McArthur is located in the northeastern corner of Shasta County at about 3,400 feet in elevation, and it is in the northern end of the Fall River Valley, a largely agricultural region of the state.

The roping and bull riding occur on Saturday, and the parade takes place on Sunday. Local art displays include photography and paintings, as well as locally made quilts and, of course, trophy vegetables and fruits.  The livestock area has pens for prize pigs, poultry, cattle and sheep.  A street dance closes the festivities three of the evenings.

The small town atmosphere of McArthur and the Fall River Valley is infectious at the Inter-Mountain Fair.  With more than 30,000 visitors each year, the Fair is by far the largest gathering in the Fall River Valley.  Folks from all over the rural areas in this part of the state come together for the Inter-Mountain Fair, and visitors from the larger cities in the Central Valley enjoy the cooler temperatures found at McArthur.  Whether you can come up for one day or visit for the weekend, the Inter-Mountain Fair offers a special taste of rural living in the high country of Shasta County.

Admission Fee (if any): $4 to $6
