Kern River Ranger District Office / Visitor Center

The Kern River Ranger District Office is located in Kernville, California. We offer visitors information on hiking, biking, rafting, camping and other recreational opportunities in the Sequoia National Forest and surrounding areas of the southern Sierra Nevada. We provide visitors with various passes and permits. Campfire, Wilderness and Rafting permits are provided free of charge. You can purchase a wood cutting permit for $10 per cord with a minimum of two cords.
We also sell the America the Beautiful passes. These passes are offered free of charge to persons with disabilities. People 62 years of age or older can purchase these passes for a onetime fee of $10. The Annual pass is available for $80 and is good for one year from the date of purchase. There is a gift shop where visitors can purchase books, maps, T-shirts, hats and other items. Stop by and visit us before heading out for your adventure in the Forest.

Hours Open: Monday through Friday from 8:00an until 4:30 pm
