The Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum is located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. The museum features an outstanding collection of artifacts from Lake Tahoe's earliest days including early explorers and pioneers, offering a fascinating look into Lake Tahoe's history.

Visit an authentic toll booth built in 1859 that was located at the base of Echo Summit. Walk through an authentic 1930s summer cabin, and view a chronological exhibit of artifacts about the Washoe Indians, Pony Express Trail, Lincoln Highway, Comstock period, and the glamorous time of exclusive resorts and steamship travel in early 1900.

The museum shop features hundreds of titles, posters, cards and gift items about South Lake Tahoe's rich cultural heritage, many created by local residents.

Seasons Open: Summer, and limited winter hours.

Hours Open: Memorial Day through Labor Day, 11am to 4pm everyday.
