Located in Apple Hill, Larsen Apple Barn is the oldest (c. 1860) continuously family-owned and operated farm in El Dorado County. Larsen's Apple Barn features a dozen varieties of the finest quality apples as well as pears, peaches, and nectarines, honey, and pumpkins. A large picnic area is set in three acres of lawn next to a waterfall and waterwheel. In the picnic area proudly stands the Rhode Island Greening, the oldest apple tree in El Dorado County.
The Bake Shop at Larsen's is the "home of the original apple turnover on the hill". Other delights include cream cheese apple pie, cookies, apple butter, and jellies made from the farm's fresh fruit. Mr. Apple hangs around for the amusement of children of all ages.
A major attraction is the Larsen Pioneer Farm Museum with generations of family and local history on display. A log cabin, covered wagon, antique farm equipment, doll houses and numerous farming family treasures are shared by the Larsen family members who act as docents sharing El Dorado County history of farming.
