Lovers Leap

Lovers Leap rises from the American River Canyon floor almost 600 feet to the top point. Hundreds of climbing routes from easy to advanced are available in this climbing area.You can easily see the sheer and awe-inspiring cliffs of what locals call "The Leap" while driving east on Highway 50 from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe.
Lovers Leap is a very popular place to climb because it offers easy access, great classic climbing and short approaches. Expect summer weekends to be busy and be prepared to find waiting lines for some of the most well-known climbs. Since there is over a half mile of rock, you'll surely be able to find a quiet place to set up a belay.

The Leap is located just off Highway 50 behind the community of Strawberry, approximately 18 miles southwest of South Lake Tahoe.
Weather changes quickly in the Lake Tahoe basin. Always be prepared, at all times of the year.

Dogs are allowed on most U.S. Forest trails. Pet owners please follow guidelines: Keep pet on 6 ft leash at all times and control excessive barking. Check Paws often on rocky terrain, can cause cuts, consider protective dog pads. Pick up or bury canine waste Keep your dog close by when encountering other people. Remember to bring enough water for you and your pet.
