Main Street Gardnerville was created as a non-profit partner with the Town of Gardnerville and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Main Street Gardnerville is a non-profit corporation and an equal opportunity provider.

Main Street Gardnerville is committed to preserving Gardnerville's historic downtown district as the destination place for Gardnerville residents and tourists who want to eat, drink, shop, gather to meet neighbors, and enjoy cultural activities in a "hometown" atmosphere.

Main Street Gardnerville is backed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the National Main Street Center. Main Street projects take a holistic approach towards economic development. By promoting historic preservation and downtown merchants, and supporting a coordinated approach to design and development, Main Street projects help towns preserve their past as they revitalize their economic and cultural presence they truly become vibrant hometowns that future generations can enjoy. The National Organization has been around over 30 years, in over 40 states and in several thousand communities. This is the only program in Nevada at this time.

Gardnerville offers a very good selection of restaurants and retail shops offering everything from home decor to gift items, fine wines, salons, gambling and clothing.

Since its inception in 2008, private investment into the community has amounted to over $83,000 and public investment almost $376,000.
