Objects from the historic Gold Rush era abound in Miller's Antiques and Collectibles. Located in the Mooney Saloon and Koehler Bakery Building on Main Street, the site dates from 1876. Henry Koehler, a German from Wottenburg had a popular bakery, a saloon and candy store in this building.

The shop is a museum of Gold Rush and Western memorabilia where everything is available for purchase. Unique finds abound. Authentic sheriff badges, whiskey bottles, handcuffs and other items associated with the history of Amador County and the surrounding gold mining areas are on display for your wonderment. Carefully selected sun drenched purple glass fills several cabinets. There is a great essay on the history of hand cuffs on this site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_cuffs

The owner, Tom Miller, was introduced to antiques by his in-laws more than 25 years ago. The objects in the cases are exciting, but asking Tom about the history of the miners' equipment brings a gleam to his eye as he shares his knowledge.

Combined with the historic buildings in town, the Museum focusing on women in the Gold Rush era, the walking tour and Miller's Antiques, you will feel that you have stepped back in time. Here are the actual objects used by the gold miners.

Be sure to view the nine photographs in the album on the right. So, whether you are a collector or just fascinated by the items that law enforcement officers, miners and their families used, this is the place to be!

Seasons Open: Open throughout the year, Thursday through Sunday 11 - 5. Appointments can be made for Monday through Wednesday by calling Tom Miller @ 209 274 6106
