Mountain Home Guard Station Cabin-Giant Sequoia National Monument

Mountain Home Guard Station Cabin offers a unique cabin-camping experience right in the heart of towering giant sequoias. The cabin is located within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and is only a one hour drive from the town of Springville, California.

The cabin, which was built in the early 1930s for Forest Service personnel, is a rustic mountain cabin.  The cabin offers all of the comforts of home prior to the invention of electricity.  The amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with propane appliances, dishes and utensils.  There is also a bathroom that features a tub shower and flush toilet.

The cabin is in close proximity to the Mountain Home Grove located in the National Monument.  The grove includes the Genesis Tree, the seventh largest tree in the world.  The grove is one of the best for seeing giant sequoias.  Other nearby points of interest include the Tule River, Golden Trout Wilderness, and Balch Park.

At 6000ft elevation, it provides clear skies for star gazers. For those who truly enjoy peace and solitude this is the perfect spot, while close enough to visit hiking trails and fish the nearby mill ponds. Visitors can also enjoy the Balch Park Museum. For the back country enthusiast the Balch Park Pack Station offers horseback trips through remote unspoiled wilderness.

Don't forget to be prepared for all types of weather.
