Event Dates: November 15, 2013 - November 17, 2013
The Mountain Mandarin Festival is held each year on the weekend before Thanksgiving, at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. The Festival celebrates the new crop of delicious, locally grown Owari Satsuma Mandarin oranges that have become a traditional staple for this Sierra Nevada foothill town.
Orange lovers are invited to enjoy a Mandarin recipe cooking contest, professional chef demonstrations, orange food of every description, arts and crafts activities, and live music and entertainment for all ages. Placer County Growers sell thousands of pounds of fresh Mandarin oranges and gift baskets, accompanied by free samples galore.
The Festival began in 1993, and continues to grow in popularity. Under autumn-leafed trees, bright orange globes of Mandarins are everywhere you turn. The tangy scent of citrus is in the air as you discover the delights of chocolate covered fresh Mandarins, Mandarin gelato, chicken wings, pizza, pulled pork, or take home Mandarin BBQ sauces, syrups, dressings, and dozens of other inspired concoctions.
More than 225 vendors of quality gift items also sell Mandarin-scented lotions, soaps, and candles, along with artist-crafted jewelry and holiday items. Take home a bag or two of delicious Mandarins. And don't forget those on your holiday gift list!
