Mt. Whitney Portal Hostel

The Mount Whitney Portal Hostel is a great place for people to stay. With bunk beds and new rooms, it's luxurious...for a hostel. It has a view of Mt. Whitney, but being in town, it allots for walking to restaurants and stores. There's a lobby area for others to gather and a small store if you've forgotten something, or need a souvenir. There are showers for hikers, if that's all you need too. Fresh coffee, a microwave, and a fridge are wonderful accommodations for those traveling on a budget as well. The on-site laundry facility is a great asset too. This place offers private rooms and shared rooms, all with private showers and baths.
The Hostel also offers an area to do trainings and/or workshops.
NOTE: Whitney Portal Hostel holds hiker packages ONLY. Packages MUST have a throw away date (Approximate arrival date). This is a very kind service so please know the limitations and plan ahead - just like you do for your bike thru-hike.
Send UPS or Fed-Ex ONLY. They DO NOT and will not pick up packages from the US Post office for you. And, they are unable to return or forward any packages. Thanks for keeping this cool spot cool for the next Sierra Nevada explorer.
Hostel Bed Capacity: 4 to 8 beds in one room.
All rooms have bunk beds in them.
There are maps, books, bear canisters and small amenities in the Hostel Lobby. There are showers and bathrooms in each room, as well as in the main area of the building.
Rate Range: $19.95 per bed or $59.95 for a private room
