The Sierra Nevada is very well known for filming and for the extensive amount of movies and commercials that have been and are still being made here to this day, due to the brilliance of Mt. Whitney. The Mt. Whitney Restaurant has a rich movie history, many autographed photos and lots of John Wayne memorabilia. Many stars of today and yesteryear such as William Boyd a.k.a. Hopalong Cassidy, John Wayne, Ed Burns (Known for 77 Sunset Strip) Robert Blake, Mel Gibson and Terence Howard  have dined in this friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Many foreign visitors find our restaurant located in Lone Pine along iconic Highway 395 through their European travel guides. Guides list our world famous restaurant which is conveniently located at the base and corner of Whitney Portal Road where you turn to travel up through the famous Alabama Hills (site of many movie and commercial locations) to visit the majestic beauty of Mt. Whitney.

Every year people hike Mt. Whitney (elevation 14,497 ft.), then come to the Mt. Whitney Restaurant and order our special double pattied Mt. Whitney Burger. This is an annual tradition for many hikers. Those that are looking for a lean, mean taste go for our farm raised low-fat ostrich, venison or buffalo.

Our chefs include Jose, our fluffy omelet maker, Martin, our chicken fried chicken master, Dora our speedy chef, owner Dean, and soup master, son in-law Jason and a lil' more behind the scenes our prep cook Veronica....... All masters of their own domain!

The Mt. Whitney Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving a wide variety including exotic burgers such as buffalo, ostrich and elk to salads, sandwiches on and off the grill, and a dinner menu that consists of high quality choice steaks, cod, trout, chicken and beef amongst a host of other things. Our menu consists mainly of homemade fresh items. You won't see no turkey press around here! haha!  We cook all our sandwich meats right in our own kitchen!

Desserts include 8 flavors of ice cream for yummy shakes or malts, sundaes, apple, peach, cherry and blueberry pies, cheesecake, 6 layer to die for chocolate cake, carrot cake and seasonal pies!!!

We do karaoke on most Friday nights after closing on our awesome system! We have CDs or feel free to bring your own!  We have new conference room where you could enjoy parties, meetings or just a nice quiet family dinner!
