People with heart trouble and pregnant women should have a physician’s approval before taking a river trip. Persons with various disabilities are welcome on O.A.R.S. trips, pending a discussion of any special requirements.
O.A.R.S. believes in the stewardship of public lands, supporting such wonderful organizations as American Whitewater, American Rivers, the Outdoor Foundation, The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) and Waterkeeper Alliance. Additionally, we share in, support and encourage the practice of the seven principles of Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics.
In partnership with our guests, we have contributed more than $3 million in donations and fees toward the preservation of the environment and to various conservation initiatives in our four decades in business.
O.A.R.S. believe in supporting the communities where we run their trips, whether through donations to local non-profit organizations, sourcing local goods and hiring local guides, attending community meetings, sponsoring and hosting educational and charitable events or through on-the-ground conservation work.
O.A.R.S. was the first, and only, North American rafting outfitter to be 100% carbon neutral. Our California-based headquarters and our Grand Canyon office and warehouse are 100% solar powered.
We have been recognized as an authoritative resource for environmentalists, conservationists, politicians and eco-celebrities, and we were selected to support the film, “Grand Canyon Adventure: River At Risk” 3D IMAX ®.
We love pets(!). However, for safety reasons animals are not permitted on O.A.R.S. adventures.
