Pleasant Grove House

Pleasant Grove House

The Pleasant Grove House is just one of the many historical properties located in the historic region of Clarksville. Now known as El Dorado Hills, Clarksville was once a bustling commercial center in western El Dorado County located south of Hwy 50. The members of the Clarksville Region Historical Society take extreme pride in the preservation of the rich history of this part of El Dorado County.

One site has survived the many changes that have occurred over the years. The historically significant property called the Pleasant Grove House is an example of the endeavors of the group to bring awareness, and hopefully restoration and protection, to the foundation of Early California's Gold Rush History.

About this Establishment

The Pleasant Grove House, located on Green Valley Road, was one of several roadhouses built in the 1850s on Green Valley Road. These roadhouses provided rooms, meals, and shelter for travelers and their horses to anyone using this route between Sacramento, Placerville and the Nevada boom towns. Home to several generations of pioneer families, it is now a private residence.

Time Period Represented: 1850-1860

Hours Open: Historic house is not open to the public.
