Sierra Foothill Conservancy is a private non-profit Land Trust that has protected over 17,000 acres of natural lands and family ranches in Mariposa, Madera and Fresno Counties. SFC hosts a series of expert led classes, hikes and events on their protected lands.

Areas of Service and Expertise

SFC has three county areas of service: the Foothill regions of Mariposa, Madera and Fresno counties. Staff Class Leaders and Representatives provide the following areas of expertise and services:

Native plants, wildflowers and wildlife. Range-land and Nature Preserve Management. Local history and cultural heritage. Natural systems. Land Conservation.

Types of Experiences and Trips Provided

Just a few examples of SFC's robust offerings of educational opportunities for you to connect with foothill lands are the Expert-Led Day Classes: Wildflowers of Hites Cove with botanist Wendy Fisher; History of Mt Bullion and Bear Valley with Ralph Mendershausen PhD; and Writing about Nature in the Sierra Foothills with CSU Fresno Professor John Hales.

Hikes: from easy 3 mile hikes through rolling blue oak woodlands to strenuous 8 mile treks to the top of foothill mountains, SFC offers something for everyone. See our website for the most current offerings of hikes and classes:

 Eco-Friendly Notes

SFC's mission is to conserve the open lands of the foothills, connect adults and children with natural lands and cultivate future stewards of the land:

The grasslands, foothills, and forests between Yosemite National Park and Kings Canyon National Park provide land for farms and ranches, a home for native plants and wildlife, and a source of clean water. The Sierra Foothill Conservancy honors our natural and cultural heritage by protecting these resources and ensuring that present and future generations will continue to experience and enjoy the land in this region.

In addition to SFC's conservation focused mission, SFC uses recycled products and produces its communications through electronically as much as possible.

 Pet Friendly Notes

SFC does not permit pets on our preserves or hikes and classes.
