Slim's Koffee Shak

The Shak is located centrally in the historic and rustic mountain mill village of North Fork, California. It is the only coffee shop in the Exact Center of California. We sit right on the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway serving our local villagers and guests from out of town.

Owned and operated by locals, we are a community oriented business. We donate 10% of our profits to our in-house community development fund. We started and sponsor a mountain area Youth Chamber of Commerce.

Here at the Shak our motto is hospitality first, coffee second. We invite all guests alike to come settle in and hang out for a bit. Try our wonderful Shanti herbal tea and accompany it with our Shak Salad that has locally grown spinach, diced onions and tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, pine nuts, dried cranberries, sprinkled with our special seasoning, drizzled with balsamic vinegar and roasted garlic oil and finally, topped with locally grown diced apple.

Or go rustic and drink our North Fork Coffee black and enjoy it with our savory Shak Bagel, that is an everything bagel toasted just on the insides, smeared with cream cheese, topped with onion and tomato slices, sprinkled with our special seasoning and drizzled with roasted garlic oil. We serve locally roasted organic coffee that is Rain Forest Friendly, Shade Grown and Direct Buy from the farmers. We offer specialty coffee drinks and exotic loose leaf teas. We serve deli sandwiches to order, salads, hummus, croissants, bagels and more.

We strive for all things local such as the produce, fruit, coffee, art and everything else that we can. The Shak also showcases work done by local artists and serves as a local art gallery to foster and inspire creativity. There is free WIFI, computer, satellite TV, music, games, library and locals to chat with. We invite you to our local hangout where you can make yourself at home and get a taste of what the mountain locals do.

Cheers,

The Shak Crew

Slim's Koffee Shak is named after a Miniture Dashund, Panhandle Slim. Slim got his name from an ol' corduroy jacket that owner Scott O'Brian Marsh, wore as a party jacket in his college days. Slim grew up on a college campus visiting local bars and as he got older, Slim started hanging out at coffee shops in North Beach, San Francisco. There, he continued his reputation as a kool kat and now finds himself at his own Koffee Shak in the amazing village of North Fork, California.

Pets are welcome on the front patio where they can lounge with a bowl of water and chat with Slim and other visiting dogs.

Craig & Michelle wrote on May 16, 2011: Perfect spot to gather before continuing on to Bass Lake, Mammoth Pools, and Yosemite. The coffee and wonderful assortment of teas are great. They even have wi-fi, and cool local art gallery walls. Scott, the proprietor, and his wing-man, Slim, are the greatest!

Jack McGowan wrote on May 16, 2011: Slim’s is great! Active, friendly atmosphere, excellent coffee, sandwiches and bagels. I haven't tried everything yet, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Bob McKee-North Fork Hardware wrote on May 16, 2011: A great addition to our town, very popular and the in-place to be. The coffee is fabulous, the prices are reasonable, and there’s an abundance of smiling customer service.

Jennifer Noble wrote on May 15, 2011: Friendly vibes, good food & drinks. An asset to our town for locals and visitors alike. We are happy Slim's is here!
