Smokey the Bear Sign
Upgraded in 1986, this 12 foot high Smokey the Bear sign was designed by a local artist in Bishop, California and the Inyo National Forest. The sign is unique due to its design and location. A paved pullout allows visitors to photograph the sign and scenic location called Smokey Bear Flat. It can be seen both north and southbound on Us Hwy. 395, 3 miles north of Hwy. 203. Thousands of visitors pass by the the sign daily which reminds us that "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires".
Smokey The Bear appears annually in the Mammoth 4th of July Parade in Mammoth Lakes, California.
Seasons Open: Summer and Fall. Removed in winter to protect the sign from snow blowing equipment.
A large paved pullout allows accessibility with a few feet of the sign.
Keep your pet on a leash as the sign is located within 15 feet of the major highway US. Hwy. 395.
