Squaw Valley Institute

Squaw Valley Institute is a non-profit organization of residents, businesses, and visitors dedicated to presenting programs having artistic, cultural and educational values. We present lectures, performances, forums, exhibitions and classes in the unique mountain environment of Squaw Valley, North Lake Tahoe, Truckee and surrounding communities, bringing together visitors, residents and friends in the truest sense of community.

Squaw Valley Institute was founded in March of 2002 by a small group of local residents in the Squaw Valley-North Tahoe-Truckee area. At that time, the Lake Tahoe region was the only major destination ski resort area in North America that had not had a cultural institution in place for decades. There was a recognized need to have broad based and year round activities having artistic, cultural, educational and entertainment values. [HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE]
