Squaw Valley Lodge sat adjacent to what was the finish of the Men’s Downhill course at the historic 1960 Winter Olympic Games held at Squaw Valley. The places, stories and structures from this pivotal event in sports history are located just steps from Squaw Valley Lodge.

Location has always been key to the historical setting of the Squaw Valley Lodge. In the center of all the activity on the mountain, the Lodge evolved from barracks-style quarters at the Olympics to an employee and guest housing complex in the late 1960s.

The 1980s ushered in the third stage of the Squaw Valley Lodge evolution when it was transformed into a popular ski-in/ski-out condominium resort. Remaining at its original location, it is still nestled at the base of Squaw Valley USA, which is designated a California state landmark as a “Pioneer Ski Area of America”.

From Reno/Tahoe International Airport: When departing the airport, take highway 395 north. Take the I-80 exit west following the Sacramento signs. Travel on I-80 west for about 30 miles to Truckee. Once in Truckee, take the highway 89 exit south following the signs for Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. After 8 miles on highway 89, turn right at the stop lignt onto Squaw Valley Road where the Olympic rings and torches are located. Follow Squaw Valley Road two miles. The road will make a sharp left turn and just ahead is the ski area. Turn right at the stop sign onto Squaw Peak Road located between the Cable Car building and PlumpJack. Squaw Valley Lodge is just ahead on the left side of the street.

From the San Francisco Bay Area: Take Interstate 80 east. Follow I-80 for approximately 3 hours or until you reach the town of Truckee. Take the second Truckee Exit, Highway 89 south. Please refer to the directions from Truckee.

From Southern California (Los Angeles):Take Interstate 5 north to Sacramento. Take Interstate 80 east. Follow I-80 for approximately 2 hours or until you reach the town of Truckee. Take the second Truckee Exit, Highway 89 south. Please refer to the directions from Truckee.

From Truckee Airport: From Airport Road, take a right on Highway 267, turn left at the first stop light onto Brockway Road and go approximately 1.5 miles. As you approach the train tracks in downtown Truckee, take a left on West River Street and follow for approximately 2-3 miles. Take a left on Highway 89 and refer to directions from Truckee.

From Truckee: After 8 miles on Highway 89, turn right at the stop light onto Squaw Valley Road where the Olympic rings and torches are located. Follow Squaw Valley Road two miles. The road will make a sharp left turn and just ahead is the ski area. Turn right at the stop sign onto Squaw Peak Road located between the Cable Car building and PlumpJack. Squaw Valley Lodge is just ahead on the left side of the street.

Squaw Valley Lodge is managed by locally owned Granite Peak Management. Started in 1998, the local firm manages hotels and homeowner associations in Squaw Valley.
