A turn of the century old fashioned Ice cream parlor. Step back into time and treat yourself to real Old Fashioned ice cream sodas, sundaes, floats, splits and more. Serving up the town's morning coffee and pastries along with a full lunch menu.
The Emporium makes its home in a building that was built in 1858. For many years it was the office for the mining magnet Alvinso Hayward. The town of Hayward California is named after him. Leland Stanford also hallowed these walls in the gold rush era, as he had significant mining interests in Sutter Creek.
Enjoy live Ragtime Piano music played at the store on a regular basis by the previous owner, Stevens Price, on the 1918 Milton Upright Piano. It is also a player piano, and when Stevens is not in, you can request to have one of over 400 rolls to be played on the piano.
The Ice Cream Emporium has been mentioned in multiple publications including Sunset Magazine. For the past 12 years it has been the mainstay for the local elementary school and Amador High School students who frequent the parlor for their after school ice cream and candy cravings. Voted best Ice Cream in Amador County on a regular basis, it is a must see destination in the Mother Lode.

Price Style for this Establishment: From nickel candy to 20 scoop sundaes, they have it all. All very reasonably priced.
The previous owner has lived in the County for over 24 years. It was family run always using local teenagers for the smiling help, as well as his two kids. In March, Stevens sold it to his long time employee, Sara Hock. Sara has two small children that are now starting to help in the store. From one family to another, Sara has retained the friendly family atmosphere and charm.
ADA Accessibility NotesThe sidewalks are accessible and front doors will accommodate wheelchairs. There is an accessible bathroom across the street by the City Hall.
Eco-Friendly NotesAll the ice cream containers are made from sugar cane products and are 100% recyclable. They also collect their recyclable bottles and cans on a daily basis.

A Midwest Visitor wrote on September 02, 2010: A visitor from the Midwest told us she was sitting at an outside table eating ice cream in front of the Ice Cream Emporium, sharing the place with students of various ages and a couple from Germany. She said she felt like she was seeing the world on a corner of Main Street, Sutter Creek.
