Tahoe Keys Marina

The Tahoe Keys Marina is located in South Lake Tahoe adjacent to California Tahoe Conservancy land which is home to abundant species of birds. Birders flock to Cove East for an unobstructed 360 degree view of the Tahoe landscape and to watch and listen to birds, especially the osprey fishing the Truckee River and bald eagles traversing the shoreline.

Tahoe Keys Marina strives to maintain the pristine water quality of Lake Tahoe, while providing easy access to the lake via the pet friendly walking trail at Cove East and its public boat launch with access for paddlers to join the Lake Tahoe Water Trail that circumnavigates the lake.

Voted "Best of Tahoe" by locals, Tahoe Keys Marina is home to two classic boats of yesteryear that provide public tours of historic locations around the lake, the "Safari Rose" a classic 80’ three deck yacht and the "Tahoe", a classic 40' wooden high speed cruiser. Originally owned by E.B. Scott (author of the Saga of Lake Tahoe), the "Tahoe" was initially launched in 1950 and carried passengers from Tahoe City to Emerald Bay, the south shore, and other stops around the lake. Neglected from 1969 to 1998, the "Tahoe" is now restored aged to perfection and ready to whisk you and your boating party away on a unique cruise anywhere on Lake Tahoe.

Tahoe Keys Marina is Lake Tahoe's only inland marina. For the past 30 years, the Tahoe Keys Marina has provided recreational boat rentals, private charters, sport fishing charters, tour boats, hot air balloon rides and fine dining at The Fresh Ketch Restaurant. The Cove East trail located next to the marina is one of Lake Tahoe’s few pet friendly beaches, and is open to walkers and cyclists.

Best Access and Parking Areas

Getting to the Tahoe Keys Marina is easy. From Lake Tahoe Blvd. (Hwy 50) turn on to Keys Blvd. (Keys Blvd. starts at that intersection and you can only turn one direction). Follow Keys Blvd. to the stop sign. Turn right on to Venice Drive and follow it into the marina. Parking is along the entrance and exit drive.

Rules and Regulations for Fishing Area

Any person over 16 years old must have a valid California or Nevada sport fishing license to be able to fish in Lake Tahoe. The best fishing on the Lake is from a boat. For those who enjoy shore fishing, your best bet are places where the shoreline drops off quickly such as Rubicon Point on the west shore and Cave Rock on the east shore.

Fishing is closed in Lake Tahoe within 300 feet of its tributaries, and upstream to the first lake from October 1st through June 30th. The rest of the year the entire lake is open to fishing.

Eco-Friendly Notes

Lake Tahoe is a pristine alpine lake where clean boating and protection from Aquatic Invasive Species is the highest priority. It's also a high priority for Tahoe Keys Marina which is a designated Blue Boating inspection center. Lake Tahoe continues to be threatened by quagga and zebra mussels. These devastating invasive species are carried from place to place on boat trailers and boats. They are highly successful in part because they attach to any hard surface and can live out of water for weeks at a time. The mussels reproduce rapidly, causing irreversible environmental damage.

Boaters directly benefit from watercraft inspections because the waters they use will be kept clean and free from these nasty invasive species.

The Tahoe Keys Marina recognizes the importance of boating to Lake Tahoe’s heritage and to the local economy. In fact, Lake Tahoe has been specially designated an Outstanding National Resource Water. This special honor comes with high standards for pollution control. The Blue Boating certification program provides educational services to boaters while building mitigation resources and environmental controls. Through watercraft inspections, clean boating can continue to be a foundation of the region’s recreational resources.

Clean, Drain and Dry your watercraft after every use to ensure you are not transporting any nasty nuisances. After all, We’re All in This Boat Together!

ADA Accessibility Notes

Tahoe Keys Marina facilities are easily accessed by wheel chair or power scooter.

Pet Friendly Notes

Tahoe Keys Marina is a pet friendly environment. We only ask that you keep your pet on a leash, and clean up after it. We also provide access to one of the few pet friendly beaches on the lake via the Cove East walking and biking trail.

Comments

LOVELY WALK FROM THE KEYES MARINA TO LAKE TAHOE ON THE COVE EAST TRAIL. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUN IS JUST SETTING. THERE WERE HOWEVER TOO MANY MOSQUITO'S. BUT THE SETTING SUN OVER THE LAKE AND THE MOUNTAINS IS INCREDIBLE AS THE COLORS KEEP CHANGING WE USUALLY GO TO LAKE TAHOE EVERY SUMMER FOR A BIT.
