Housed in a former saloon known as the Sportsman’s Club, Taste Restaurant resides on Main Street in Plymouth. The Sportsman was known for deadly dice games and epic brawls during the 1940s and 1950s. Today the reputation is quite different.

Taste Restaurant is the most recognized restaurant in Amador County. Taste has earned national recognition for their wine list since 2008 by the Wine Spectator. The locals have voted Taste best fining dining since 2006. Numerous food critics, publications and foodies have reviewed Taste often giving it the highest ratings and accolades.

The first of its kind in Amador County Wine Country, Taste offers the wine enthusiast the complete gourmet experience. Wine enthusiasts enjoy combining the pleasure of dining with their wine country excursions.

We have had travelers from all over the world join us for a meal. On a regular basis we have guests from Sacramento, Elk Grove, El Dorado Hills, Placerville, Sommerset, Jackson, Ione and Sutter Creek. Many of the local wineries (over 40) refer their guests to Taste.

Taste prides itself on using local, seasonal ingredients. The menu changes with the availability of products. We work with local farmers who grow specifically for Taste. Our eggs are from a local ranch and all 200 chickens produce eggs that are utilized exclusively by Taste. As a member of the Seafood Watch, we make sure our fish is harvested properly.

Taste opened its doors in May 2006 after a 14 month renovation. The interior reflects the time which it was built including 1920s Craftsman dark woods, built-in hutch and a mahogany bar. Many of the accents in the dining rooms are made from wood recycled during the renovation.

Hours Open: Thursday , Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for Dinner. Saturday for Lunch.

Taste is owned and operated by B & E Hospitality a Volcano based, husband and wife owned company. B & E Hospitality has owned and operated the historic St. George Hotel in Volcano (1997 - 2003) and in conjunction with Taste also currently operates the Union Pub and Inn located in Volcano.
