Event Dates: August 04, 2012 - August 05, 2012

About this Event

Foresthill is the hub of the Historic Western States Trail which is a 100-mile, one-day premier endurance trail ride from Squaw Valley located in North Lake Tahoe through Foresthill to Auburn, California.

Founded on a bet in 1955 by one of Auburn's prominent citizens, Wendell T. Robie, modern-day endurance riding began with what now is called the "TEVIS CUP." Today there are hundreds of endurance riding events throughout the nation and in many countries overseas that are based upon the methods and standards originally established by this event.

Best viewing: Robinson Flat - end of Foresthill Rd, 27 miles from downtown Foresthill, around 9:30 a.m. until noon. Downtown Foresthill, around 3:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Finish Line at Overlook (Pacific Avenue in Auburn) and then at the stadium at the Gold Country Fairgrounds (victory lap), around 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

Remember the words of our founder, Wendell T. Robie: “Ride a horse. Really ride!” The event is co-sponsored by the Western States Trail Foundation and the Foresthill Divide Chamber of Commerce, http://foresthillchamber.org/index.php
