At the east end of Truckee's historic downtown Commercial Row sits a newly built 2,600 sq. foot art gallery.
The building was designed and built by the multi-talented Olof Carmel and features recycled barn wood floors, a stone fireplace, and Berkeley Mills custom furniture. The gallery not only showcases an extensive selection of fine art landscape photography by Sierra-based photographers Olof and Elizabeth Carmel, but also sells unique minerals and crystals, designer jewelry by Truckee's former mayor Craig Threshie, sculptures by local resident and former brain surgeon Milton Heifetz, antique Japanese Hokkaido hand carved bears, and Elizabeth Carmel's photographic books featuring beautiful photos of the Sierra and Lake Tahoe, calendars and cards.
The Carmels live in Truckee full time and specialize in unique and expressive landscapes of the natural world. Their prints combine dramatic photography, vivid colors, and artistic touches to create new, captivating visions of the natural world. All their photographic works are printed and framed right in Truckee. Custom sizes printed to customers specifications are available either on "gallery wrap canvas" or on fine art paper, and are giclée printed using archival inks and museum quality printing materials. The Carmels specialize in unique installations of their work which vary in size from10" X15 " up to sizes of 6 X10 feet! The gallery, a truly inspiring piece of craftsmanship, along with the magnificent selection of art pieces, is a stunning work of art in its entirety.
