The Hostel at Tinker’s Station is located on Donner Pass Road just off Interstate 80 in Soda Springs, California. The Station is in close proximity to some of Tahoe’s best ski and snowboard resorts, rock climbing sites, hiking trails, bike paths, kayaking lakes and other outdoor activity locales.

Tinker’s Station is named after one of the founding members of the town of Soda Springs, Joseph Tinker. Along with Thomas Fenton, the two men founded the hotel Tinker’s Station in 1864. While the site has since moved from its original location, the current property has maintained the name Tinker’s Station since the mid 19th century. Our hostel strives to carry on the longstanding tradition of historical pride, excellence in service and outstanding hospitality.

The Hostel at Tinker’s Station provides its traveling guests with inviting and fun lodging at a reasonable price. The Hostel is equipped with three large suites with a common area and dining room. Guests may book a single bed or rent out an entire room with friends. Tinker’s Station provides its guests with multiple amenities including Wi-Fi access, games, movies, special contests and an on-site café & pub.

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff works diligently to assist guests with any needs. Come stay at The Station, or at the very least, drop by our pub, order a cold beer and share your summit adventure tales.

Walt Nickel wrote on March 22, 2011: I stayed at this Hostel two weeks ago. It is a remodeled historic inn at Soda Springs near the Hwy 80 Norden turn-off. It has the characteristics of a modern Tahoe home; lots of stone and wood detailing. It has a large living room area and a cozy cafe featuring several fine brews on tap. This is a beautiful place to stay and the prices start at only $25/bed.
