The Pines Campgrounds (Upper, Lower, North)

The Pines Campgrounds (Upper, Lower and North Pines) are located in the heart of the Yosemite Valley, with many campsites along the iconic Merced River. These forested campgrounds offer a mix of sun and shade provided by the surrounding Ponderosa pine, white fir, incense cedar, oak and manzanita. A short walk or shuttle ride will take you to the landmark destinations of Yosemite Valley, including towering granite cliffs, breathtaking waterfalls, and abundant wildlife.

Upper Pines Campground is accessible via Valley Shuttle stop #19, and has 238 campsites, each with a fire ring, picnic table and food locker. All campsites are near a bathroom with drinking water and flushing toilets. 3 campsites are wheelchair accessible. Reservations are required between March 15 and November 30; sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis between December 1 and March 14. Camping fees are $26/night, for up to 6 people per site

Lower Pines Campground is accessible via Valley Shuttle stop #19, and has 60 campsites, each with a fire ring, picnic table and food locker. All campsites are near a bathroom with drinking water and flushing toilets. Standard campsite fees are $26/night for up to 6 people per site. 2 small group campsites can accommodate 7-12 people, and one double campsite can accommodate up to 12 people. Fees are higher for group or double campsites. 5 campsites are wheelchair accessible. Lower Pines Campground is open March through October, and reservations are required.

North Pines Campground is accessible via Valley Shuttle stop #18, and has 81 campsites, each with a fire ring, picnic table and food locker. Many campsites are near the Merced River or Tenaya Creek. All campsites are near a bathroom with drinking water and flushing toilets. Standard campsite fees are $26/night for up to 6 people per site. 3 campsites are wheelchair accessible. North Pines Campground is open April through October, and reservations are required.

Driving Directions

From the West Entrance of Yosemite National Park, proceed along Southside Drive towards the Valley Visitor Center and the campground office in Curry Village, where you will be directed to your campsite. If you are arriving at the park by bus, get on the free, year-round Valley Shuttle at the Valley Visitor Center, and take it to Curry Village (stop 13) to register, then hop back on the Shuttle to the campground (stop 18 for North Pines, stop 19 for Upper and Lower Pines).

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets are permitted in campgrounds, but must be kept on leash and attended at all times. Many trails in Yosemite do not allow pets, so please plan your visit accordingly.
