The Pour House

The Pour House

The Pour House is a wine shop and tasting bar located on Jibboom Street in historic downtown Truckee. The building dates from the early 1900s making it a protected historic site. At one point the building served as the Madame's house for one of the many establishments of ill repute that Jibboom Street was infamous for. Gunslingers, ladies of the night and card sharps are the characters who put Jibbom Street on the map, and the Pour House aims to carry on the tradition.

Owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Dean Schaecher and Christa Finn, The Pour House evolved out of the duo’s 25 years in the food and beverage industry.

A self-described “wine guy,” Schaecher has managed the food and beverage operations of many local restaurants and resorts, including Glissandi at the Resort at Squaw Creek and the restaurants at the Sienna Hotel and Casino in Reno. A self described "wino", Finn has also done her time in local eateries, including Glissandi, Wolfdale's in Tahoe City and Dragonfly in Truckee.

With more than 300 bottles on the shelf, The Pour House’s inventory focuses on small, family-owned and organic wineries that many people probably haven’t heard much about, many locally and regionally produced. A favorite are the wines made nearby by the Truckee River Winery, and award-winning California varietals crafted in the Sierra Nevada foothill appellations of Amador, El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties.

Hours Open: 11 am to 7 pm daily

Seasons Open: Year-round

Locally or Family Owned Business Notes

Husband and wife owners, Dean Schaecher and Christa Finn, have lived in Truckee for over 15 years. They opened The Pour House within a month of the birth of their second child in 2005. They are active members in the Truckee community and donate proceeds from all Pour House events to local non-profits, ranging from the Senior Center to the Humane Society.

 Eco-Friendly Notes

The Pour House recycles all of its glass, corks and cardboard, and concentrates on providing wines that are sustainably, organically or bio-dynamically produced.
