Three Springs Ranch

Three Springs Ranch is a family business run from our property in the Sierra Nevada foothills at 2700' near Giant Sequoia National Monument and the town of Springville. We conduct an ongoing experiment with growing as much of our own food as possible in a large vegetable garden and two orchards. We also have a fish pond, and fields and woodlands for grazing our goat herd and free range chickens. We harvest downed trees for heating our home as well as our vacation rental cabins.  We choose to exclude predators and pests naturally.

We own and manage three exceptional vacation properties within or adjacent to Giant Sequoia National Monument which is just 10 miles from our ranch. We endeavor to use the same respectful and sustainable practices in restoring, maintaining and stocking these getaway destinations as we do at our own homestead.

Lodging Style and Amenities

Each Three Springs Ranch vacation rental property has been chosen for views, natural character,  architectural interest, access to water, privacy and proximity to the Giant Sequoia groves (within 12 miles).  All are fitted with modern appliances, wood floors, entertainment, Wifi, iPod dock stereo, games, luxury linens and more. They are located at the southern end of the Sequoia range in an area largely undiscovered by tourism.

Each property is located along ancient Native American migration routes, which later became homesteading, livestock and logging trails.  Two of the properties are on waterways and still have Native American mortar stones used for grinding acorn into meal as a staple of their diet.

The Bear Spring Cabins are located on 2 acres adjacent to the National Monument on the site of a long used spring along the old Jordan Trail. The main house is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with open plan and a dining room, great room and game room all with high exposed beam ceilings. The game room has a pool table and Foosball table. Decks and porches abound and the property boasts a springfed swimming pool. The guest cabin has high ceilings, kitchenette and bathroom.

The Mt. Dennison House is on 15 wooded acres and has a stunning view of Mt. Dennison.  Giant boulders, creeks and ponds dot the land. A large tee pee and straw bale play ground (summer) sits near the house for kids play. A large spring-fed swimming lake is a short walk away on our adjoining ranch. The house has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, wood stove, central air and heat, large kitchen and bumper pool table.

The Waterfall Cabin is a special couples getaway with tree house deck overlooking a series of granite waterfalls on Bear Creek. The property is 1.5 acres within the National Monument and has high open beamed ceilings, lots of windows, wood floors, handmade doors, a wood stove, air conditioning, heating, leather furniture, and luxury amenities.

Locally or Family Owned Business Notes

Our family runs Three Springs Ranch as an endeavor to use our talents as craftspeople to restore properties that were deteriorating from disuse so that they may be enjoyed and bring good memories and ecological awareness to visitors. We also support other local businesses and our communtiy by bringing tourism to the area.  We hope to provide a living for our family that we can feel good about while experimenting with sustainable building, farming and living.

 Eco-Friendly Notes

We have renovated each dwelling using as much local, recycled, natural and energy efficient materials and appliances as possible. One larger property has been fitted with a solar array to produce the majority of power needed. We harvest firewood for each property from downed trees on our ranch, and all linens are line dried. All recyclables are collected, sorted and trucked to a recycling facility by us as there is no waste pick up in the area.

We are committed to providing beautiful, private, convenient, and fun retreats for families to enjoy the Sierra Nevada and giant sequoias while knowing that a commitment has been made to be earth conscious and supportive of local craftspeople and products. Three Springs Ranch supports local and state non-profits in the areas of conservation and land stewardship and cooperates locally with Balch Park Pack Station and River Ridge Ranch in providing accommodation for their guests.
