This three-mile river reach is in a beautiful, deep granite gorge with slabs of rock and large boulders between Tiger Creek Dam and Highway 26. This section of the North Fork Mokelumne River is eligible for designation as a National Wild and Scenic River and offers countless recreational opportunities.

Three-mile long Class IV whitewater paddling run, swimming, water play, picnics, trout fishing, walking on the lightly-used, gravel River Road above the river. Unusual spring wildflowers along the road.

The best location for picnics and summer swimming is the takeout parking lot (with pit toilet) at Highway 26.This is a good place to cool off in the cold river on a hot summer day then rest on the warm slabs of granite.

Anglers can access the river at either end or by hiking down steep, narrow trails from the River Road.
