Tillie Creek Campground

Entrance to Tillie Creek Campground

Situated in an interior live oak forest, this campground has multiple loops with campsites throughout the grounds. Recreational activities include hiking, fishing, jet skiing, boating, bird watching, photography, and nature appreciation. Bird watchers can hike around the closed sections of the campground. In winter many mountain species find refuge in the oak woodland. Purple finch, Phainopepla, Sapsuckers and many more.

Although the campground is one of the few in the area that is open all year, many of the campsites are unavailable for renting except during holiday weekends. This makes much of the campground a nice quiet place to stroll.

The campground is adjacent to Isabella Reservoir, but as with any reservoir the water level fluctuates. The reservoir reaches maximum capacity in the months of May through early July.

During summer the forest service offers monthly programs in the amphitheater. There is a fish cleaning station, restrooms, hot showers, potable water, fire rings, tables, grills, and a playground. The campground is situated at 2,600 ft. elevation. In winter the nights are cold dropping well below freezing, but daytime temperatures normally rise to the low 50's. Summer temps average from the low 70's at night to above 100º during day in July and August.

The campground is 6-miles below Greenhorn Summit which is accessed via the steep but well maintained State Highway 155.
