Truckee River Legacy Trail

The Truckee River is the heart of the Town of Truckee. Running along one end of town to the other, one is never far from its waters.
The Truckee River Legacy Trail honors our lifeblood with a paved Class 1 trail that runs along the beautiful Truckee River, allowing residents and visitors to safely ride their bikes, walk, or roll safely along one of the town's most beautiful natural features.
The number of users on this trail depends on the time of day and day of the week. Mornings are a popular time to see people on the trail walking, jogging, or commuting by bike into town. Weekends and evenings bring out more families enjoying the trail on foot, skates, scooters, tricycles or bikes.
Most of the trail provides great views of the Truckee River, in addition to views of the occasional train passing by.
The trail currently runs from the Truckee River Regional Park along the Truckee River, 2.5 miles to the northeast along the river, passing spurs to Riverview Sports Park and Ranch Way. With additional funding, the trail will extend an additional 2.25 miles along the Truckee River to the Glenshire neighborhood.
Route Length: 2.5 miles, currently
Easy - Good for All Ages
The trail meets all requirements for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The trail is in close proximity to several of Truckee's neighborhoods, allowing residents to use foot or pedal-power to safely commute to downtown Truckee, the Truckee River Regional Park, Riverview Sports Park, and other popular destinations.
Pets are allowed, and pet waste bags are provided at locations along the trail.
