Truckee Trails Foundation is a committed group of community-minded people focused on the development of a local trail and bikeway system. Our goal is to connect people and places, reduce dependence on automobiles and improve physical, social, and environmental health for the community.

We work closely with the Truckee Trails & Bikeways Master Plan approved by the Town of Truckee in 2002 which sets out a network of trails and bikeways linking the town. Through partnerships with people and organizations, private and public, we identify trail locations and alignments for connectivity of the ultimate system. We serve as a trail's advocate for the community and we also host trail building and maintenance days.

We believe that creating a connected community with safe earthen and paved trails, usable by walkers, hikers, wheelchairs, and riders will improve the quality of life in our community, making it a desirable place to live, work and visit.

Accomplishments

As a partner in the recent purchase of a trail easement along the Ponderosa Golf Course’s Brockway Road frontage, TTF is actively working on fundraising efforts to complete a new paved trail from the Regional Park to the Rock, and has raised $50,000 to date for this trail.

The Truckee Trails Foundation continues to work with the Truckee River Legacy Foundation, the Town of Truckee, and others to secure appropriate alignments, easements and funds for a paved trail between Glenshire and Donner Lake. So far, about $10,000 has been raised in this effort.

We facilitated completion of a trail segment near China Cove at Donner Memorial State Park, resulting in a paved cycling circuit all the way around Donner Lake.

TTF worked with the Glenshire Homeowners Association to build a trail around Glenshire Lake.

TTF has been a contributing member of State Route 89 Mousehole Project Stakeholders Advisory Committee, where we have been working with others to develop a series of improvements for this dangerous railroad undercrossing.

How to Support

There are lots of ways to support TTF! We're always looking for volunteers to help us with special projects, events, and support our trail maintenance operation called Good Dirty Fun. As a volunteer with Truckee Trails Foundation you can look forward to a stellar grassroots experience that makes a visible impact on the community of Truckee and its trails network. Contact us today in order to talk about volunteer opportunities with our organization.
