Twenty Lakes Basin Trail

Twenty Lakes Basin Trail

One of the most scenic loops in Mono County, the Twenty Lakes Basin trail kicks off from the west end of Saddlebag Lake, just a few miles off Hwy.120 (on the east side of Tioga Pass) and is part of the Hoover Wilderness area. For a nominal fee, a small boat ferries hikers across Saddlebag Lake to the main trail-head, saving your feet an additional 1.5 miles each way. The undulating loop (about 5 miles) meanders past numerous high alpine lakes, meadows, and stunning granite peaks. Wilderness permits are required for overnight travel.

Vertical Gain or Loss: Minimal

Trail Distance: 5-8 miles
