Whitewater Voyages

We were the first outfitter to guide trips on several classic Sierra runs, including the Middle Fork and North Fork of the American River in Northern California, and the Forks of the Kern in Southern California. Whitewater Voyages has taken almost 500,000 rafters down river in our 30 year history. We've learned a lot along the way and we share this knowledge with our professional rafting guides and office team every day, ensuring that your California rafting trip is top quality and first class - from put-in to take-out.

Types of Experiences and Trips Provided

We offer whitewater rafting trips on five rivers in California:

Kaweah River - Located near the entrance to Sequoia National Park, this might river pants and plunges through a multitude of great Class IV+ rapids. A great river for experienced rafters: challenging rapids await you with fast currents, huge waves, inconveniently placed boulders and big drops. Our 1-day trips pair quite well with a trip to see the Sequoias--the largest living things on earth.

Kern River - The Kern River Valley is Southern California’s whitewater rafting mecca: a river rafter’s jewel in the heart of Sequoia National Forest, yet only three hours from Los Angeles. With a diversity of river sections ranging from mild wave trains to wild roller coasters, there is Kern River whitewater rafting fun for everyone, from beginners to experts.

Join us for a day or two of family-friendly Class III-IV on the beloved Lower Kern. Charge Class IV or Class V sections of the Upper Kern. Or embark on the wilderness expedition of a lifetime: a day, two or three on the Forks of the Kern, a world-class adventure. We were the first to run the Forks without portaging, back in 1980. We'd love to take you there.

Kings River - The Kings River is famous for its long, exhilarating roller-coaster-like Class III rapids. This is the destination for those who want a rollicking, splashing good time without the anxiety that sometimes accompanies tougher runs. Our 1- and 2-day trips are great fun for the whole family.

Tuolumne River - We offer 1, 2 and 3 day trips on the Wild and Scenic Tuolumne River, just outside the north entrance to Yosemite National Park. This ultra-classic run in a remote wilderness canyon is one of California's best-loved whitewater excursions, especially when enjoyed at a leisurely two- or three-day pace. Call us at 1-800-400-7238 for more information or to book your trip.

Yuba River - Along a sparkling ribbon of Class IV-V whitewater hidden in the Northern Sierra on the North Fork of the Yuba, we offer two spectacular runs--hidden treasures of California whitewater. The Goodyears Bar run is a thrilling day of Class IV, and the Union Flat run is spectacular Class V.
