Wishon Cabin-Giant Sequoia National Monument

Straight on view outside cabin

Wishon Cabin offers visitors a quiet getaway year round. Tucked away in a setting of majestic oaks and pines in the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains, the cabin is a hidden gem. The cabin is located at approximately 3,900 feet and is only about a half an hour from the historic town of Springville.

The cabin was once used by the Forest Service to house fire personnel stationed in the area from the 1930s through the 1980s. When it was no longer needed and closed by the Forest Service, it was converted into a visitor cabin. It is located at the entrance of Wishon Campground in the Sequoia National Forest on the southern end of the Sierra Nevada.

The cabin offers amenities such as electricity and running water.  There is a fully equipped kitchen with appliances, dishes and utensils, and a bathroom that features a flush toilet and a tub-shower. Visitors need to bring food, bedding, bath and personal items. Don't forget a warm jacket.

Nearby points of interest include the Tule River, the trailhead to Doyle Trail, the Wishon Trail located six miles away in the Mount Home State Forest and the Belknap Complex of giant trees. Nearby activities include horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing and hunting.
