Mokelumne River Electra-Middle Bar Run

Photo © Pete Bell
The Mokelumne's Electra-Middle Bar run, off Electra Road, flows from just above Highway 49 to the historic 1912 Middle Bar Bridge. It is eligible for designation as a National Wild and Scenic River. The lower portion of the Electra Run, above Highway 49, and the entire Middle Bar reach, from the Highway 49 Bridge to the Middle Bar Bridge, are threatened by a proposed dam included in the East Bay Municipal Utility District's 2040 water plan.
Without Wild and Scenic River protection, we may lose this beautiful river reach.
Class II -III- whitewater kayaking and rafting. Great place to view spring wildflowers, hold family picnics, teach children about nature, pan for gold, walk, inner tube in late summer, swim and bird-watch. See ruins of historic hydroelectric and mining facilities.
Year round
Fees: None
Popular with dog owners.
